Lanre Dabiri, (born May 23, 1977) better known as eLDee, is a Nigerian-American rapper, vocalist, music producer and architect. “Lanre” is a diminutive for the Yoruba name “Olanrewaju” (meaning “My wealth is the future”). He is an original member of the group Trybesmen, which was started in 1998 with rappers KB and Freestyle.
The 1st generation of his record label Trybe Records developed artists such as Sasha, who won the Kora’s Most Promising Artist Award in 2004, 2Shots,Trybesmen, eLDee, Lequse, olaDele, Timi, Proto and Dr Sid, who is now a member of the Mavin Records (formerly Mo’hits).
Throughout his musical career spanning over 10 years, eLDee has without a doubt proved to be one of the greatest musicians that have come out of Nigeria. The life and times of thismusical icon clearly reveals that to this genius, the whole world appears to be his musical stage and he gains inspiration from everything happening in his society. His music has contributed immensely to the socio-economic development of Nigeria. He was a social critic and used his songs todecry the ills of our society such as the life of most Nigerians and corruption, composing lyrics that can be heard in songs like “i go yarn”.
After moving to the United States in 2002, eLDee recorded a solo album titled “Long Time Coming” and followedup with “Return of the King” in 2006. The latter album earned various nominations and awards for both videos and songs, including “I go yarn”,“Champion”, “African Chiquito” and “Bosi Gbangba”. eLDee has produced and directed numerous videos both forNigerian and international artists.
Indeed, eLDee is exceptionally talentedand versatile. His array of singles, albums and videos throughout his career have continuously pushed the creative boundaries and status quo amongst his peers. Though it is sad to know that “Undeniable” will be eLDee’s farewell compilation, the current Trybe Records signees- Eva Allordiah, Sheyman, Sojay, K9 and Sarz ensure eLDee’s legacy of multifaceted musical excellence lives on.
What else can we request for this legendary musical genius? It seems as though his critics are short sighted, failing to be progressive by overlookinghis immense contribution to the societyat large. Today, musicians are acclaimed as veritable tools in our development and not as dregs of society like before. eLDee has more than delivered on his own contribution to the evolution of artist imagery.
I must admit, I was disappointed in the organisers of music award shows for neglecting to honour this musical icon with a Life Time Achievement Award or equivalent. I therefore suggest to the various award shows to bestow eLDee, not just with an ordinary award, but with an honour that properly recognises what this great man and musician has achieved.
I also suggest that Music bloggers set up a team to conduct a sound documentary into the life and achievements of this great man and put together a comprehensive compilation of his music (as was done for the Late Fela Anikulapo Kuti) so thathistory can be documented for the generations of Nigerians and Africans yet unborn. This is a way Nigeria can effectively rebrand and showcase itself to the world.
Nevertheless, I make bold to say that as Kenny Rogers, Ray Charles and James Brown are to America, and Tom Jones, Rod Stewart and Sir Paul McCartney are to the UK, so also is our very own eLDee to Nigeria and Africa atlarge.

I Was Stabbed By DJ Tee Himself – Tolani Osungade [Soji Boi]
The victim in the case of the alleged DJ Tee stabbing has come out publicly to give hius side of the story. Tolani Osungade who goes by the name Soi Boi as a musician has taken to his twitter page and insists that he was indeed stabbed by DJ Tee, and that DJ Tee is making up stories to cover up the truth.
He also explains that he wasn’t in a fight with DJ Tee.
On his twitter page he said “ I was stabbed by Dj tee himself,and am currently in A̶̲̅ critical state,He shuldstop makin up stories.n I wasn’t even inA̶̲̅ fyt with him ”

DJ Tee Denies Stabbing Incident At Video Shoot
The internet went ablaze last night when rumors and pictures started circulating about an incident involving DJ Tee and an upcoming artists on the set of video shoot. Allegedly DJ Tee broke a bottle and stabbed the victim, Tolani and ordered his boys to beat up his sister.
Details are still sketchy but, DJ Tee has since taken to twitter to clear his name out. In various tweets he has stated that “ the bottle shattered and cut me & him….broken pieces that was shatteredaround us…..he was an extra on shoot Idid today, its long story anyway he smashed a bottle against hard metal above our head ”
The injured is supposedly an upcomingartist who goes by the name Soji Boi , and it’s still unclear the circumstances surrounding the incident. No word from the injured person but we hear he’s receiving treatment at Ikeja Medical Center in Lagos
Dancer Kaffy was also at the video shoot, but we’re no sure if she witnessed the incident.

‘Empire Mates State of Mind’! That title teases memory of the Jay-Z and Alicia Keys earth-shaking collaboration maybe that was the major reason the E.M.E album was highly anticipated or because Banky W recruited sexy soul singer ‘Niyola’ and smooth J.Holiday-esque singer ‘Shadyee’ to join titan ‘Wizkid’ and struggling ‘Skales’ in his musical empire. Regardless, the team of 6 including resident disc jockey ‘DJ Xclusive’ has unleashed a lenghty LP that will induce listeners in different states of mind. The curtain rises to a ‘legendury’ performance by the leadingtrio on ‘Baddest Boy’, followed by ‘Get Down Tonight’ with Banky W, Wizkid & Skales again as they try to make listeners prioritize partying on the scaleof preference. ‘Shadyee’ debuts on ‘SunMo Mi’ and shows off his vocal pipes alongside Banky W and the ‘Mukulu’ crooner, they glide on an instrumentation crafted by ‘Masterkraft’. Comedian ‘Basket Mouth’ appears on the almost hilarious ‘Hate’ skit, which is in three parts to ease the tension.
Undoubtedly you will find yourself rolling to the potential club anthem ‘Roll It’; Banky W and the superstar rise to the occasion on this number complimented by the ace production the duo do not only hit the bull’s eye, they destroy the target board. ‘Change’ is another defining moment and my favourite track in the tiring album; obviously inspired by the#OccupyNigeria movement and the current situation of Nigeria, the all-star cast led by Banky W, co-piloted by soothing harmonies by Niyola accompanied by Wizkid who delivered a somewhat polished vocal and company proves that they got the X-factor. ‘See Me My Mama’ aims for weddings, Basket Mouth makes a final appearance on ‘Hate 3′, and the DJ Khaled reminiscent ‘Can’t Stop Us’ are final minutes in the LP as the curtain falls.

D’banj Launches His Music Label — D’Koko Master (DKM) Records
Music entertainer, D’banj or Koko Master as he is populary known, is set to launch his music label called D’KokoMaster (DKM) records.
The launch comes a few months after D’banj and his business partner/producer, Don Jazzy, parted ways over an undisclosed issue; both were the owners of the now defunct record label, Mo’hits Records.
DKM records has Davido signed on as its first artiste and, according to reports, the record label will stage an official party (date undisclosed) at Eko Hotels, Lagos, to mark the launch of the label.
It would be recalled that after the Koko Master and his Producer, Don Jazzy parted ways, the latter launched his own recored label called Mavin records, with stars such as Wande Coal,Tiwa Savage and D’Prince signed onto the label.

K-Solo Set To Drop New Album “Mr Pedigree”
K-Solo has been in the press for much more than his music lately which domestic abuse allegations from his wife serious surrounding the producer.He has since denied the allegations, but the rumors are still floating heavily.
But when it comes to music, K-Solo is as good as any producer in Nigeria. He has produced hits for Timaya, Kefee, Klever Jay and many more. He is set to release his album, “Mr Pedigree” on June 24th, 2012.
The album launch will take place at Club Vegas in Lagos, and will be hostedby comedian Omo Baba 1.

Nigeria’s biggest and most respected music awards, The Headies is back for the seventh year!
Organizers of Hip Hop World Awards which debuted in 2006 this week announced “A countdown to the big day”- which officially kicks off THE HEADIES.
“On July 23, we will have a mini event to give out the car and plaques to last year’s winners, and then the following day, we will officially launch the countdown to the big day by announcing nominees, hosts, sponsors and other plans” Ayo Animashaun says.
A total of 23 Plaques will be given to last year’swinners- 2face, Don Jazzy, Darey, Ice Prince, MI, Waje, DJ Tee, Modenine, Cabo Snoop, eLDee, Femi, Dr. Sid, Jah Bless and WizKid with Wizkid leaving with the biggest prize- a brand new Hyundai Sonata 2011.
Though yet to make the date of The Headies public, Hip Hop World Awards is already dangling a new theme “step into the spotlight” before rising and established Nigerian acts whose materials – released between March 2011 and February 2012 – pass the test.
